I am a sociologist studying care, ageing and health from the intersections of social gerontology, nursing science, public health and ethics. I work with qualitative methods and I am particularly interested in participatory approaches and arts-based methods. I am an associate editor of the International Journal of Care and Caring

I am researcher and project manager at the European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research in Vienna where I carry out research projects focusing on topics such as social innovation in long-term care in a comparative perspective, integrated care, person-centred and culturally-sensitive care for older migrants, informal caregiving, experiences of caregiving and care receiving, the development of long-term care systems, and concepts of ageing well. Before joining the European Centre, I was postdoc at the Department for Ethics and History of Medicine at Tübingen University (Germany).

It is important to me to discuss research not only within academia, but beyond the scientific community with those who are involved, affected or just interested in a topic. Two things characterise my teaching: my enthusiasm for the scientific questions I am studying and my joy of working together with others. I am also trained in teaching academic writing and in 2022 I co-organised the conference  Schreibend denken und forschen – Jahrestagung der Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliches Schreiben at the University of Vienna.
